PARKING LOT EXPANSION AND BALAALAYA RENOVATION: WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TODAY
|
Parking, especially on the weekends, has been
identified as a significant problem. We have had many complaints from our
neighbors and devotees. Now with county approval to add another 180
spaces on temple property we should be able to handle all but special event
parking needs for the foreseeable future. The Trustees have decided to proceed
with a contract to do this as bids have come in lower than originally estimated
and since we have met the baseline requirement that we would only begin work
after we had $500,000 in the bank.
Capital Fund Projects planned to be underway in
2010 are:
- $900,000 for Parking Lot Expansion, 180 spaces
with asphalt and the bridge
- $400K for Balaalaya Restoration, Meditation Hall,
original Balaalaya
preserved and 3 apartments- two for bachelor priests and one for a priest and
spouse or for guests
The total cost of the Parking Lot Expansion cum
Balaalaya Restoration projects is $1.3 million (estimate was $1.8 million)
therefore we still need to
raise an additional $800,000.

BOOMI PUJA POSTPONED TO FEB.28, 2010
All devotees are cordially invited to the
Bhoomi Puja for the Parking Lot Expansion project. The county approvals are in
and the contractor will be ready to begin work soon. Hopefully, our parking
headaches will be over in 2010!
Bhoomi puja is scheduled for Sunday,
February 28 th 10:30 AM
(snow date is Sunday, February 28th,
also at 3 p.m.).
Please dress warm and come with your
family to help us begin the construction by carrying a brick to the site.
